Sephardic Evening

 

Live with us the Seville sunset in the Jewish quarter, "Barrio de Santa Cruz", in a different way! Walking through it´s magical streets or contemplating nice views at the top Terrace of the Murillo Hotel, with  the Giralda tower in front.

Enjoy the Sephardic Jewish culture, through an experience that combines history and music. Will start with a walking tour through the Jewish quarter with comments, curiosities and anecdotes about the history of the Jews of Sepharad and their life in the Medieval Seville. 

 

 

After the walk, we will go up to the terrace and will enjoy the Sephardic music, beautiful Sephardic songs with the live sounds of the arabic oud or violin. The hotel will provide in a Bar service, even a the Moroccan Tea, during the performance.

And this way, we will make you evoke the Sephardic soul of Seville!

Clase de Be Sepharad! en la Texas Tech University de Sevilla / Be Sepharad! class at the Texas Tech University in Seville

En Be Sepharad! realizamos diferentes actividades formativas y divulgativas, como clases, talleres y conferencias en universidades nacionales e internacionales, aulas para mayores de 55 años, museos e instituciones culturales. Unimos la formación con el disfrute de lo lúdico a través de la música y otros elementos culturales. Todo con un firme objetivo: recuperar, dar a conocer y enseñar la historia de nuestros judíos españoles o sefardíes, y acercar a las personas esta parte de nuestra cultura y raíces. Es decir, conseguir que ésta cobre vida y sea sentida de nuevo.

El pasado miércoles expusimos en la sede hispalense de la Texas Tech University una clase práctica: "History & Music in Sephardic World", impartida por Pepa Rull y Daniel Parejo (proyecto Be Sepharad!), por invitación del profesor y excelente violinista estadounidense, Eric Fried.

Fue un auténtico placer y experiencia para nosotros esta oportunidad que sin duda agradecemos tanto al profesor, como a la dirección de la Texas Tech University en Sevilla, a los que además agradecemos la confianza depositada en nosotros. Mucha gracias también a los alumnos que siguieron con atención nuestras explicaciones, compartieron y participaron en la música sefardí, incluso cantándola en un idioma que no les es familiar. ¡Fue estupendo!

In Be Sepharad!, we perform different types of activities, some training and classes in national and international universities, workshops at the Sephardic museum , didactic concerts in various environments, homages, presentations and other events... We add to joined training with the enjoyment of entertainment through music and other cultural elements. Everything with a firm objective: retrieve, let know, teaching the history of our Spanish or Sephardic Jews, make this part of our culture closer to people and our roots, in definitive, make it come alive and be felt again.

Last Wednesday, giving the class with musical practice: "History & Music in Sephardic World", by Pepa Rull and Daniel Parejo (both from Be Sepharad! project), invited by Professor Eric Fried, excellent american violinist.

It was a real pleasure for us and a great experience this opportunity that we appreciate and thank to both the Professor Eric Fried, and the direction of the Texas Tech University in Seville. Many thanks also to the students that listened with attention to our explanations and shared and participated of the Sephardic songs, singing them with us, in a language with which they are not familar at all.
